George Gordon Byron, Lord. (1788-1824).
This portraiture was taken from the frontispiece in
My Recollections of Lord Byron by Countess Guiccioli
(London: Richard Bentley, 1869). It was engraved by
R. Whitechurch and based on the portrait by Thomas
Philips. The countess would have been alive and likely
had a say in its choice and would have had the pick
of a number of portraitures then available of Byron.
