§January 31st: Formal opening of Dalhousie College.
§February 16th: Halifax Gazette changed to Royal Gazette.
§Oct 26th: The Sixteenth Assembly of the Nova Scotia Legislature, first convened in 1841, was Dissolved.
§Oct 30th: Election Writ issued; Returnable Jan 11th, 1844.
§Amos Seaman builds the 1st steam mill at Minudie (near Cumberland Basin).
§An act to regulate "for gathering Sea Manure" at Chester, in 1844, Halifax Co.
§An Act respecting the Measuring of Grindstones in Cumberland County.
§The war that the British had with the Chinese ended with the annexation of Hong Kong.
