§Mines is first settled; its "principal founder was a rich inhabitant of Port Royal, named Pierre Theriot; Claude and Antoine Landry, and Réné LeBlanc were associated with him. This settlement became a favorite outlet for the surplus young men of Port Royal, and finally grew to be the richest and most populous in Acadia."[Hannay,, p. 213.]
§Appointed on the 5th of May, 1673, Chambly did not arrive at Pentagoet until the autumn of the year.
§November, 1673: Lord Shaftesbury is dismissed.
